Clear and Present, 2003
Galleria Continua, San Gimignano, Italy
Installation: 2 c-prints, variable dimensions; 3 wooden shelves supporting small stones, (100 x 8 x 12 cm each), video projection (colour, sound, 12:26)
In the title the word ‘danger’ is missing on purpose.
I recently (Feb ‘03) read an interview to Susan Sontag who says “What makes Westerners insensitive is not the repeated vision of horror, but our feeling helpless about it”.
It perfectly describes the feelings - about the relationship between history and the individual, biased by the overwhelming impact of the media - that guided this piece.
