The Momentary Now School of Performance

The Momentary Now School of Performance is a course, designed and led by Marcella Vanzo,  now in its sixth edition in collaboration with Zona K, Milan.
It is a course made of made up of action and reflection on performance, declined between visual arts, poetry and theatre, together with anthropology, psychology and sociology.

Together with Marcella Vanzo, the students investigate performance at 360 degrees.  
They explore gesture in all its depth, the body as medium, the voice, the relationship with oneself, with the other, with space, with objects and with the market.
Students work individually and in groups, including practical exercises, physical work, readings and analysis of works. Experts come to discuss different aspect of performance: history, presentation and production, performance artists introduce their work. At the end of each year, students present personal projects to professional public.

The Momentary Now students have performed for: Tinho Sehgal, Marina Abramovic, James Lee Byars’s reenactment at Pirelli Hangar Bicocca, Balletto Civile and Romeo Castellucci, among others.
They present their work in festivals, fairs and art galleries including Corpi sul Palco, Artissima Fair in Turin, Casa degli Artisti, Gli Eroici Furori. They work at Centrale Fies and Contemporary Locus, win prizes and residencies, perform for film makers and often collaborate together to enhance their practice.
