Sognare [To dream] is a sudden and necessary gesture, born of a space, connected to a feeling. The feeling of home, the feeling of taking over it, the right to have it.
A fundamental right, one often denied. The space is the one of a former estate agency. The sign, violated by black spray, says the house belongs to those who live in it. I want to live there, it’s urgent.
Inside, two fundamental cues: plants – Dieffenbachias – a lot of plants. These are very domestic ones I grew up with as a child. There are a lot of them here, their pots take over the space and there is barely room to sleep.
The other fundamental cue, the one that triggers the urgency, is a neon sign that paints the night red. It says: lotteremo, l’otterremo, la terremo. [We will fight, we will get it, we will keep it]Again, the sign talks to me, I recognise the struggle, I recognise the revenge, I recognise the ownership.
I want to be in there.
How? By dreaming.
By dreaming for one night.
That is my lair.
