Versi [Verses] is a performance born for the second edition of BieNolo, especially for this garden, in October 21. The huge magnolia tree asked me for it. I wanted to climb on its branches and confuse myself with it and confuse my verses with nature. Yet culture, or rather bureaucracy forbid me all tree climbing. So poetry became me, my gilded face, and my performers – I call them mine because we have an art blood relationship – sounded like animals. Don’t forget that in Italian, animal sounds are called versi, verses, same as the poetic ones.
We played with the double meaning and cats, dogs, cows, horses, monkey, mosquitos, pheasants and goats came. Everybody heard them and some one tried to shut them up.
Versi was then invited to the performance festival Corpi sul palco, curated by Andrea Contin, in December 2021. I could not perform because I had Covid.
I asked Andrea Contin to dress up like a sexy lady in high heels, short skirt and red lipstick in front of the public and read my poems. He did.
